Upright rowing is another essential component of shoulder exercises to work on the trapezius muscle,to get a big neck look.It is a contradictive exercise,where many argue it causes shoulder problems.Trainers usually advice this exercise with precaution.Although this exercise wont help build big muscle,still it is necessary part of shoulder workouts to gain muscles.

CORRECT FORM:




  • Take a barbell and place medium weights at the ends.
  • Grab the barbell with your hands,6-8 inches apart.Keep the barbell at arm’s length,the body straight,in a line and chest out.This is the starting position.
  • Exhale as you bring the bar up to the chest level.Your elbows will be above the level of the bar.Squeeze your trapezius muscles together.
  • Inhale as you slowly bring the bar to the starting position.
  • Remember not to swing during executing the exercise.This way you will end up damaging your shoulder or straining your neck.
