The MTV reality show Jersey Shore returns this week. This time the “guidos” and “guidettes” are hitting Miami Beach for more tanning, drinking, trouble-making, and working out. Indeed, JWoww (Jenny Farley) along with The Situation and DJ Pauly D are known for their smoking hot bodies.
Between the shooting of the first season and the second season of Jersey Shore, JWoww told People that she did not work out at all and that she’d been able to stay in shape because of sleep deprivation and running around for all her publicity events. (We’re not so sure that sleep deprivation is a good way to stay in shape. Quite the contrary, to repair muscle or otherwise rest your body, you should be getting around 8 hours of sleep per night, though this number can vary from person to person.)
However, it looks like JWoww has returned to the gym to work on that smoking body of hers. In particular, she’s been seen in Miami gyms (along with Snooki and Sammi) during the second season. Looks like her workout generally includes some boxing, jump roping, and treadmill running while shooting the second season.
We’re assuming that this means that JWoww has given up on her unhealthy and unsustainable diet of 500 calories per day and fertility hormones. To put that in perspective, That’s Fit notes that an average-sized woman should be consuming about 1,500 to 2,000 calories per day (i.e., 3-4 times as much. In addition, a 500-calorie diet can even kill you.
We’re also not sure on the credibility of her claims considering the amount of liquid calories (not that these calories are by any means a substitute) that the guidos and guidettes consume on a nightly basis. Consider that an average drink, like a shot of rum or vodka, glass of wine, or a beer has 100 calories. Even if we ignore the several hundred extra calories in your typical mixers (and assumed she ate nothing else), 5 drinks easily pushes her over that threshold. From any given episode, anyone can tell she’s had a few more than 5 drinks.
She’s also tried an “HCG diet” that includes HCG hormone injections coupled with a super low-calorie diet (500 calories or less). (HCG stands for Human Chorionic Gonapotropin.) Under this diet, one can allegedly lose 3500-4000 calories of fat calories – or 1 to 2 pounds – per day. Sound to good to be true? It probably is, as the Celebrity Diet Doctor has already pointed out that is (not surprisingly) just a gimmick:

Studies show that HCG is no more effective over placebo when combined with a low calorie diet. To put the nail in the coffin, when HCG injections are given without a low calorie diet there is no weight loss… none! So bottom line you are losing weight because of the low calorie diet and not the HCG injections.Sorry, JWoww, if you want to keep that rocking body of yours, you’re probably going to have to keep hitting the gym.
